Wizofawes - As a result of a hip flexor he suffered during a voluntary workout several weeks ago, Washington Wizards rookie Otto Porter missed five consecutive days of training camp, which came to a conclusion late this afternoon.
Porter has been dealing with various injuries throughout his time with the Wizards, starting with a right hamstring issue during Summer League which kept him out for the majority of time. Despite missing significant time during the summer league, having time to be around the actual team in a practice setting was probably more important for his development. Now that the Wizards training camp is over, Porter certainly missed a valuable opportunity to get familiarized with the team and the players he’ll play along side this season.

Look, I thought Porter was the obvious and safest pick for the Wiz in the draft. I didn’t want Len, and I didn’t want Flattop Noel. The only other guys I would have been okay with were Ben McLemore, who can’t shoot, or CJ McCollum, who wouldn’t really have a position on the Wizards. So Porter has to get his god damn shit together. I can’t take another draft bust. We suffered through Kwame. Suffered through Gilbert bringing guns into the locker room and taking shits in teammates shoes. Suffered through the Wizards trading the 5th pick in the 2009 draft for Mike Miller. That 5th pick ended up being Ricky Rubio. Stephen Curry was picked 7th. And let’s not forget about Jan Vesley, the 6th pick in the 2011 draft, who, if he retired today, might go down as the worst player in NBA history, and that is not an exaggeration.

So I can’t handle Otto Porter being a lazy, injury riddled bust. The Wizards have improved steadily, and all hopes are he’s the missing piece. So come on Otto. Get better and get going.
