Georgetown Upset Number 4 Villanova Last Night And The Students Rushed The Court...Coach John Thompson III Says He Wishes They Didn't Do That

FTW – Georgetown upset fourth-ranked Villanova on Monday night, which was followed immediately by Hoya fans storming the court — much to the dismay of Georgetown coach John Thompson III. “They watch too much TV,” he told Bill Raftery after the game. “I’m excited for the students but I really wish they hadn’t done that.”

I’ve written about this topic before and I’m writing about it again. I will never understand old grumpy people who want to say when it is or isn’t ok for students to have fun. Sure, if they start rushing the court every it’s stupid. But only a couple times have students rushed the court in pointless games. Last night Gtown knocked off the number 4 team in the country and students were excited, as they should be. So what they rushed the court and jumped around like idiots for a few minutes? Georgetown costs (their parents) like 8 million dollars a year to attend, if they want to storm the court and have a little fun for all that money, more power to them. And if JT3 doesn’t want the students rushing the court after a win, maybe his team should be ranked and not vice versa. I always think it’s so petty when people say kids, who are in college, shouldn’t have fun by rushing the court after a big win. It’s not like Nova was ranked 23rd or unranked. They were number 4. People have rushed courts for way less. At the end of the day, it’s all in good fun. Let college kids have fun, no need to be a wet blanket.

PS: How about Smitty mushing them yesterday by saying Nova is the only hope for Philly sports? DC owns Philly, oops.

PS: Can Georgetown build their own arena? Playing at Verizon Center takes so much home court advantage away from them. Just build a nice college arena in Georgetown, they charge enough to fund it with one semester’s tuition.

PS: Jack!!!!!
