Brandon Marshall Says the NFL Should Remove Brandon Meriweather From The League Completely

Tribune – Brandon Marshall says it might be time for the NFL to sit Brandon Meriweather down — or kick the Redskins safety out of the league all together. Meriweather, who was fined $42,000 by the NFL last month for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Packers running back Eddie Lacy, drew two personal fouls in Washington’s 45-41 victory at FedEx Field Sunday afternoon. He put a shot on Marshall near the goalline after an incomplete pass and officials deemed he hit a defenseless receiver in Alshon Jeffery earlier in the game. “Guys like that really don’t understand that there is life after football,” Marshall said. “I respect the league trying to better our game and guys like that, maybe he needs to get suspended or taken out of the game completely. I understand. I get it. I was one of those guys. I played defense growing up. I was a headhunter. Even sometimes on the offensive side, I played that way. But with rules in place, you’ve gotta respect it. “Guys like that just don’t understand. Those are the guys that are in trouble. They really don’t have anything to do after football because they think it is all about football. Guys like that, it’s tough.”

There’s no way around it, Brandon Meriweather is about as thugish of a football player as they come. Takes cheap shots, gets fined $25k for them, then goes out the next week and headhunts the next WR in line. At this point, he actually does not know how to tackle properly. I fully believe his first intention is to injure whoever he comes across. He has made a living doing it, and will continue to. He has given himself more concussions this year (1) than he has interceptions (0) and passes broken up (0). But the fact of the matter is, a guy like Meriweather who absolutely does not give a fuck about his reputation or legacy, will continue to cash NFL paychecks because he makes other team’s WRs play softer. They think twice before going over the middle against him because they know he is coming for their brains.

At this point, Meriweather is a less skilled version of Ndamukong Suh. Suh has almost killed 20 different QBs and has been slapped on the wrist a couple times by Goodell, but will continue to punish the other teams as hard as he can because he still has 50 million in the bank and a team and coaching staff backing him up.

When it comes down to it, having a player like Meriweather can help your football team immensely. The problem with Meriweather though is he completely sucks at football. He has quickly gone from feared safety to shitty safety who gets your team costly 15 yard penalties then jokes about them in the locker room. Do I want Meriweather on the Redskins? 100% no. But do I want a player like him on the Redskins? Absolutely yes.
