Braden Holtby Notched His 8th Shutout Of The Season As The Caps Held Onto The 7th Seed in the East, Blanking The Bruins 2-0

It’s been a rough last couple of weeks for the Caps. They were blanked by the Pens and shutout by the Canes to close out February, and then after a great game vs Buffalo, lost two straight to the Rangers and Stars at home. Last night they started the process of turning things around, beating the Bruins 2-0 behind a remarkable game from Braden Holtby. I got crushed by the Hot Take Police last night for saying this, but when Holts is on his A game, the Caps are unbeatable. When he’s focused and controlling the game from the crease, the Caps can beat anyone. Last night was one of those games. The Bruins were going to need a lucky bounce to get one in against him, and it never came. Add in the Caps PK was on point, and they attacked continuously and largely controlled the pace of the game the entire time, and the Caps left DC with the W.

Also last night, Nick Backstrom became the Caps all time leader in assists. Here he is with a very handsome man.

He’s currently first in the league in assists, and second in points. Not bad for a guy who wasn’t even an All Star.

Only 12 games left in the regular season…man it’s flown. 12 games left! 7 on the road, 5 at home. While I think the Caps are good enough to play any team in the East, the Rangers are the team that has had the Caps number the most this season. But on the other hand, do you really want to face Carey Price in the playoffs?
