Antonio Esfandiari Was Involved In a High Stakes Prop Bet Where He Had To Lunge Everywhere Which Led To Him Being DQ'd From a Poker Tournament For Pissing At The Table

PokerNews – Although it looks as though Antonio Esfandiari will go on to win the lunging prop bet that he made with Bill Perkins (he has until midnight tonight), the money he earned from it will be less the $5,300 buy-in of the PCA Main Event. Due to a “breach of etiquette” at the table, Esfandiari was disqualified from the event. Late on Day 2, Esfandiari said he admitted to urinating while in the tournament in a container undercover. He said that all of the lunging made it extremely painful to move, but believed he took things too far and that it was a lack of judgement on his behalf. At the time of the disqualification, Esfandiari had about 100,000 in chips.

Every wonder what it’s like to be too rich? I present to you Bill Perkins and Antonio Esfandiari. Perkins is a billionaire who plays all the biggest buy-in tournaments and cash games, for fun. He plays super aggressive, often spewy (though he is getting better) because the money means nothing to him. He’s struck up a friendship with high stakes pro Antonio Esfandiari, a long time poker player who in 2012 won $18,000,000 in the million dollar buy-in tournament at the WSOP (though he likely didn’t have a very big % of himself because backers who put him into it, he still walked away with a decent amount). Well, these two now have way too much money and need to make prop bets to keep themselves interested in life. It’s unclear what dollar amount the bet was for- some people are saying $50k, which seems low, some are saying mid 6 figures. I have no problem with him peeing in a bottle mid-tourney to win this bet. It was only a 5k entry, that’s a dinner bill. Ashtray money. Sucks that he got DQ’d, but all that meant is he could return to his room and sleep and then collect his winnings.

The thing is, this is nothing new. The poker world is filled with prop bets. Huck Seed once lost a $50,000 bet that he could stand in the ocean with the water up to his shoulders for 24 hours straight. Erick Lindgren’s golf bet is a good one:

After being eliminated from the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2007 WSOP, all Erick Lindgren wanted to do was relax and play some golf. However, after a cocktail-fueled evening with his pal Gavin Smith, his plans for a casual 18 holes turned into a monster wager totaling over $340,000. Lindgren bet Smith, Phil Ivey, and Chris Bell that in a single day he could shoot four full rounds of golf from the pro tees on one of Las Vegas’ toughest courses, break 100 on each round, and walk all four rounds carrying his own clubs. Starting at 6 a.m., Lindgren completed the first two rounds with relative ease, but once the temperatures climbed past 100 degrees in the afternoon hours, he began to struggle. However, with Smith, Bell, and a camera crew looking on, Lindgren sunk his final putt and won the bet. Lindgren later confessed that he lost 17 pounds that day due to severe dehydration and that the wager “probably took a few years off his life.”

But my favorite is when Ashton Griffin won $300,000 from his roommate by running 70 miles in 24 hours.

Can’t wait to win this lottery and just start throwing money at fucking anything. It’s going to be wonderful. Basically just waving 10k stacks in people’s faces until they do whatever you want. PowerBall is going to cost me years off the end of my life and I couldn’t be more excited about winning it.
