The Rays have acquired Jesse Crain from the White Sox, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney (Twitter link). Reports from earlier today stated the ball was in Chicago’s court to trade their ace setup man to one of two teams, with the Rays being the favorites.

Crain is currently on the disabled list with a shoulder issue, and Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that it will be a complicated deal. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports that the White Sox will receive “future considerations” for Crain, meaning the return will be dependent on his health (Twitter links). Jon Heyman of CBS Sports tweets that Tampa Bay will receive multiple players to be named later or cash for Crain.

Lets see, free agent next year, currently on the disabled list for a last place team, so basically anything the White Sox get for him is a win. I’m sure WhiteSoxDave will drop some knowledge on this later, he is currently “playing softball”, but there’s my “hot take” if you will.
