And there you have it, the saltiest column of 2016. Roger Hensley waited all this time to drop this and here it is. The Cardinals may be 12.5 games behind the Cubs in the standings, Theo may have built this team to dominate the NL Central for the next decade, but don’t ever forget that the Cubs signed Jason Heyward. You got us man, burn city population Cubs fans everywhere. Should we mention to Roger that the Cardinals front office wanted Heyward very badly and offered him a record breaking contract for their franchise, or just leave that be when we play revisionist history?

PS

This has nothing to do with Heyward’s actual play this year. We all know it’s been bad. His defense is great but his bat has been unacceptable, no one has said otherwise. If he doesn’t find some sort of rhythm at the plate his presence in the lineup scares the fuck out of me come October. It’s just funny that this is the last dying breath for the 2016 Cardinals. At least we didn’t sign Heyward. Got us!
