The MLBPA Is Nothing But A Bunch Of Hypocrites

I know we’ve beaten the entire Bryant/Cubs/service time argument into the ground over the last couple of weeks on the Stool.  Actually I’m not sure I’d even call it an argument.  Anyone with a brain knows the Cubs didn’t have a choice in the matter.  Sending Bryant to Des Moines was the only possible move to make. If he performs as expected, he’ll be commanding 300+ million dollars potentially once he does actually reach free agency.  That, and to mortgage 12 days for one year and millions upon millions of dollars makes the Cubs move a no brainer.
But that’s not the point of this blog.  The point of this blog is calling out the completely hypocritical organization that is the Major League Baseball Players’ Association.  They have gone COMPLETELY outside their bounds regarding this entire situation.  Two reasons:
1. Kris Bryant has never been on a 40man roster.  He is not protected in any way, shape, or form by the current CBA or Players’ Union.  They are speaking for someone who is completely outside their jurisdiction when they call out the Cubs for deciding upon the only feasible option they had in the matter.
2. They have also called out the Cubs for starting the season with players who they do not believe should be on the Cubs opening day roster.  I do not believe they had named names, but all signs point to them calling out the Cubs for rostering Mike Olt instead of Bryant.  You know, a guy who has a year of Major League service time, and a member of the actual players union.  Absolute dog shit, and if I’m Mike Olt, I’m fucking pissed.
3. The MLB has already said that this entire service time debate was discussed ad nauseum during the last CBA, and the players’ signed away and agreed to the current system.  If they didn’t like it, they shouldn’t have agreed to it.  Now that they’re not getting their way, tough shit, it’s nobody’s fault but your own.
The MLBPA needs to step the fuck back.  This has nothing to do with them, and the fact they think they can open their mouths now, well before the current CBA expires, is completely out of bounds.  Again, the Cubs made the best possible decision for the future as far as finances and personel are concerned.
