Matt Garza Is Sick Of Cubs Fan's Negativity.

(Source) “Hope” has been the mantra of Cubs fans for decades, thanks to a 104-year championship drought and some epic playoff failures in 1984, 2003, ’07 and ’08. Most observant fans already have deemed the 2013 season a hopeless cause, despite their improved play against the lowly Marlins.

But rehabbing Cubs starter Matt Garza had enough of such talk last week, and went on a Twitter rant against what he termed “fake” fans “who do nothing but talk smack.” In one tweet, Garza wrote he was “just tired of the so-called diehards being negative! Negativity breeds negativity! So break the cycle.”

Garza inadvertently raised a question that no one really can answer. Should Cubs fans have a different attitude when looking at the 2013 season, knowing it will be a struggle again in Year 2 of the rebuild? Should they come to Wrigley and simply try to enjoy each game without the added stress of booing Carlos Marmol or whoever comes up short any particular day?

Jeff Samardzija, who starts Monday night’s series opener against the Padres, said “there’s nothing wrong with expecting winning” baseball, and Cubs fans have the right to complain if they’re not happy with the product.

Hey guys. The dude who makes 10 million dollars a year to sit in a hot tub and “rehab” his injuries wants us all to be more positive. Gee, he kind of has a point right? Why can’t we all just look at the Cubs situation positively. Go home to our mansion, fuck our smoke girlfriend or wife, get to play sports for a living and just be really happy!

..
Seriously though, I consider myself a pretty positive guy, I have irrational self confidence, I try to be an optimist, but there is nothing about the 2013 Cubs that would make anyone think happy thoughts. Nothing. Matt Garza has been a Cub for 2 years, he won’t retire a Cub, hell if he would ever pitch again then he’d probably be gone by July. So yeah Matt, its pretty easy for you to tell everyone to be positive, but let’s get real. You’re a professional baseball player, your life is awesome. You’ll move on someday and leave the Cubs, whereas all those “fake” fans you’re referring to? They’ll still be living in Chicago rooting for the exact same team year in and year out. So kick rocks bro, no one cares that a few fans were mean to you on twitter, grow up.

PS
Today is the 30 year anniversary of Lee Elia’s famous rant. Matt Garza could learn a few things from Lee. If you’re going to rant, you rant right, don’t hold shit back behind a locked twitter account.

“Its a fucking playground for those cocksuckers”
