Gorilla Salad To The Rescue, Hawks Still Streaking

Not 12 hours after I wrote this “If Q ever lets Carcillo back on the first line I may have to murder someone”. We get this.

So I’ll eat a tiny bit of crow this morning, although I don’t really care because that game was fantastic and this streak has gone into the surreal mode. Lot’s to get to this morning so let’s hop right into it.

THOUGHTS

-As much as Dan Carcillo drives me nuts, I have to admit, Gorilla Salad is the best nickname probably ever. Gorilla Salad, a hairy vagina and the Blackhawks 4th (sometimes 1st?) liner.

-Toews goal was pure Toews. Being aggressive with the puck while shorthanded and making a hell of a move to score. But a good deal of credit for that one has to go to Bolland for 1st seeing and perfectly flipping the puck to Toews and 2nd chopping the stick out of Jamie McGinn’s hands making him virtually useless. Total squirrel move right there and I love it.

-Varlamov may let up key goals but his chain was FIRE.

-On to the Bad News. Sharp. I was at the game last night and I didn’t even really see this happen because it was concurrent with an Avs rush towards my seats but after watching it when I got home I’m pretty concerned. My best case is 2-3 weeks but in reality I think this is 6+. I hope to god I’m wrong but I’m playing the prepare for the worst and hope for the best card here. Either way, any time Sharp misses is a big loss for this team. People talking about his “down” year don’t see what he does night in and night out. He’s second on the team in assists and adds an element to that second line that will be sorely missed. Shitty.

-Ok back to good news. Eddie’s reaction to this question was absolutely priceless. That laugh was basically “You fucking moron, how about everything ”

-The Bandwagon – I’m not one of those guys that complains about the Bandwagon. As long as you don’t pronounce Toews Toes or yell for everyone to SHOOT THE PUCK it doesn’t bother me. This city is incredible when it rallys behind a team. Everyone has a pep in their step and every game is an event, both at the UC and every bar in town. So who cares, in my opinion the more the merrier, the Blackhawks being Successful and getting new fans is never a bad thing.

-Also, here’s the opposite of the two above. No fanfare, no tweets, no look at me I like the Blackhawks. Just rocking out on the glass literally every single night. Love Cusack.

-Last night the Hawks played their 7th game in 11 nights. With Sharp out, Hossa questionable and a trip to Denver and back, lets just say everyone should enjoy this as much as they can because it will eventually end, which is fine, we’ll then just worry about winning a Cup. Also, saw Philly post some stupid blog about how the 79-80 Flyers were better. Absolutely foolish. So much talent in the NHL today. Any team can win on any night. Not to mention this compacted schedule is an absolute BEAR. The Hawks are doing this amidst back to backs, 3 games in 4 nights, crazy road trips, and no training camp, its absolutely exceptional.

Shoot The Puck

-So sad the game was on NBC last night. Absolutely heartbreaking. The shoot the puck girl was a smoke too. I was far away but I could tell. I could feel it in my plums. Guess we’ll just have to wait until Sunday Night.
