CRESTVIEW – You don’t spit in the wind. Nor do you spit in a Crestview Police officer’s face. According to an arrest report, 27-year-old Brian C. Hussey of Crestview was walking down Ferdon Boulevard when the officer stopped to ask about his welfare.

“During the encounter the defendant blew in my face two times,” the officer wrote in the arrest report. “He was advised twice to not blow in my face. The defendant told me he could blow in my face and that he doesn’t take orders from ‘Asians.’ The defendant blew in my face a third time and not only struck me with air, but spit as well.” The officer said the spit struck his right cheek and right lens of his eyeglasses. Hussey was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer. His court date is March 4.

Look I’m not going to defend a guy who blows on other people. I’d rather you punch me in the nose than blow your hot breath on my face. That’s so far over the line. Just an absolute disregard for societal rules. Offensive to the max. But I will say this, if Brian Hussey has a policy of “never taking orders from Asians” I can’t really fault him. That’s just being a man of principal. I have similar rules. I have a boycott against Comcast, I’d rather have no TV than use their services. Or Miller Lite. I don’t know why but I will never order a Miller Lite, I’m Bud/Coors for life. And my point is everyone has these little rules they live by. The things they stand for that they can’t relent on. Whether it be a beer you drink or a bar you frequent or an entire race you definitively will not take orders from, it doesn’t really matter, if you have a personal rule, you stick by it and Brian Hussey doesn’t take orders from Asians, plain and simple.
