James Packer and David Gyngell, both media moguls, have been friends since childhood, and Mr Gyngell was best man at Mr Packer’s wedding to wife Erica. But last year Mr Packer, 46 – son of pioneering broadcaster Kerry Packer – announced that he had separated from his wife, and allegedly began a relationship with Ms Kerr, Orlando Bloom’s ex-wife. The two men, who both own extensive entertainment businesses, had to be separated by bodyguards, and were later fined $500 (£280) each for ‘offensive behaviour’. Mr Gyngell accepted responsibility for the fight and pledged to co-operate with the police investigation into the incident. ‘He fully accepts that he was the instigator of the incident,’ a spokesman said. ‘Clearly, had he not turned up at Packer’s premises in an angry mood then the confrontation would never have occurred.’
Maybe the weirdest story I’ve ever heard in my life. A friend trying to beat up one of his best friends because he dumped his wife to start dating Miranda Kerr. Jealous much bro? Like the wife probably isn’t even mad. I mean if Candice Swanepoel even makes eye contact with me it’s curtains for the First Lady. She knows it. I know it. Everybody knows it. And before you say that’s mean if Leo said he wanted to date Renee I’d gracefully step aside. That’s just how it goes. So don’t be a hater dude. PS – The more I’m thinking about this story the more I don’t believe this is why they fought. I bet the other dude fell in love with Miranda too and is pissed his buddy stole her from him. It can’t have anything to do with leaving his family. Leaving your family for her is such a no brainer I just don’t see how anybody could get mad about that.
