That’s bad. Really really really bad. Game on the line, at home, with such a blatant violation, the Spurs were absolutely BONED on this play. I don’t know who that ref is, but he absolutely did not want to be the guy to determine the game. What a joke.
But that’s not the story. The story is that the Spurs looked human on that last possession. Maybe it’s because they’ve trained my brain to think they will always handle every situation perfectly, but that was sheer panic. Manu Ginobli has to take that runner. Has to. Instead you pass it back out to 25+ feet to Patty Mills who was a stellar 2-8 (1-5 from deep) before that shot. And it wasn’t even close. As bad as that no call was, SA had their shot and shit their pant. That felt weird to type.
