The Press Can't Get Anywhere with the Patriots So They Harrass the Jets With Tebowmania Talk

Says Mark Sanchez of counterpart Tom Brady dealing with Tebowmania:

NY Daily News - Bill Belichick isn’t the only one growing tired of talking about Tim Tebow. The Patriots coach, who has had to deal with Tebowmania for just 36 hours or so, has already cut short questions about everyone’s favorite backup quarterback. So imagine how Mark Sanchez, the man whose career took a major downturn in the shadow of Tebowmania, felt talking about his former teammate turned Patriot. “Listen, we’re in the middle of minicamp. We’re competing our butts off out there,” he said. “I love what we are doing on the field. I’m going to focus on that. I’m really not going to go back to that.” … He wasn’t secure or talented enough last season to deal with Tebowmania, constantly worrying about being taken off the field so Tebow could run head-first into the line…

The Jets want to make believe Tebow never happened to them, and Wednesday, Rex Ryan wanted no part of assessing any damage having Tebow around did to Sanchez. “I’d rather not look back. But I don’t believe so,” he said…  Even if Belichick winds up cutting Tebow before the season, the Patriots’ decision to sign him will never produce the extensive casualty list that resulted from the Jets’ trade for him.

This is what is known in warfare as going after a soft target.  The Tebowmania media horde couldn’t penetrate Belichick’s impregnable defense perimeter, so they go hightailing it right to where they know they can still whip up a Tebow story: The Jets.  But I have to admit, it’s way more sad and pathetic than fun now.  Going to Sanchize and Rex to manufacture a Tebow story is too easy.  It’s like picking on the special needs kid in school or getting the crazy homeless guy to dance for quarters or something.  And I’m talking as a guy who’s made ridiculing these guys my life’s pursuit.  I just have always felt like my shenanigans are cheeky and fun. But these New York press shenanigans are cruel and tragic. Which makes them not really shenanigans at all. (Evil shenanigans.)  The Hooded One swatted these guys away like flies and now they’re swarming the Jets, laying eggs in their open wounds and they’re too terminally sick to do anything about it.  It’s enough to make me actually feel sorry for them.  But I’m sure in Week 2 when Tebow is lighting them up for touchdowns from all over the field, I’ll be back to normal.  @JerryThornton1
