The Patriots Have Ruined the Sport Of Football For Me

I know people are immediately going to call this a troll blog or say I’m intentionally being an asshole or whatever, but I promise it’s not. I’m 100% serious. There’s a legitimate chance that the New England Patriots have broken football.

The product on the field is borderline unwatchable. Everyone is terrible and every single game yesterday stunk. It got to the point where I left RedZone on the TV, but muted it, and put some Netflix on my laptop. Now, some people may say “wahh Feits you’re not a sports fan then!” but I couldn’t disagree more. I did it because I am a sports fan. Because I love it so much, when it’s played properly, that I couldn’t bear seeing the game I love get embarrassed like that. Missed field goals and extra points everywhere, horrible clock management, abysmal quarterback play, and terrible discipline. That’s what yesterday was. Turn to any game on any channel and within 5 minutes you would be shaking your head, thinking “what the hell was that?”

I used to say that the NFL made it tough for me to love college football. Because the game played at the pro level was so superior that if it wasn’t for all the pageantry, history, and fans of college football then it would be difficult to watch. Today I wonder if the Patriots have done the same thing to me, but on the pro level. I worry that watching such a supreme level of talent for over 15 years has ruined it. It’s like I’ve been dating this perfect girl who I love so much, but this weekend she dumped me so I went to the club to see what else was out there and it was all garbage. I need her. No one makes me cum like she does.

Maybe this was their plan all along. It’s no secret that the Patriots are angry at Roger Goodell and perhaps this is what they’ve set out to do: be so good that the rest of the NFL becomes the minor leagues, thus making the ratings dive and costing Goodell his job. It’s an audacious undertaking, to be sure. But, I don’t know. They’re just so good, they’re better prepared and better coached, they execute better, they play better. Everything about them is just better. It makes watching other teams a chore.

I know that’s arrogant and ridiculous, but it’s the truth. The New England Patriots very well may have ruined the game of football.

PS – I’m not happy about it. Don’t get that twisted. It worries me greatly that the Patriots aren’t going to face a real opponent until the Super Bowl.
