The Internet Is Mad We Work Too Hard At Barstool Sports
Well look at what we got here. Another good old fashioned old school Barstool Sports fake outrage bruhaha. What are all the twitter eggs and minimum wage “journalists” mad at this time? That we work too hard. I wish I was kidding but I’m not. Erika was quoted in the NY Times as saying the following;
How do you hire?
I’m a horrible interviewer. I’m impatient. To have a great hire, you need to spend a lot of time with that person and you need to see them in different settings. I rely on other people. Interviewing takes a village.
That said, I always root for the person without pedigree, someone who’s bootstrapped themselves. It’s not a negative if they have it, but you can quickly learn someone’s view of the world and how they got to where they are.
Here’s something I do: If you’re in the process of interviewing with us, I’ll text you about something at 9 p.m. or 11 a.m. on a Sunday just to see how fast you’ll respond.
Now people are internet mad that our employees don’t get to see their families and have lives or something. These are the same people who whine and moan that we are too successful and it’s a black mark on society that we continue to grow and make money while other real journalists get laid off. Apparently, they don’t see the connection between working hard and success? They don’t see the groundwork of Barstool Sports was laid by 32 hour days hand delivering newspapers. By me outworking, outblogging, outhustling, outfunnying everybody else in the game. And now they are mad at us? Oh boo hoo how come Barstool is successful and I’m not?
Oh the irony of it all. It’s not just that we’re funny. It’s not just that I’m handsome. It’s that myself and everybody I hired (Jmac not included) has outworked the fuck out of the rest of the internet and we continue to do so. Our success isn’t an accident. It’s not overnight. Their failure isn’t an accident. The blog never sleeps and neither do we. Empires and Nantucket Houses don’t get built by complaining about working on the weekends. They get build brick by brick, minute by minute, blog by blog.
