Sad, sad day. First we lose Hank and now we lose Throty. Fucking sucks. He’s been gone for 30 seconds and I already miss him. I wouldn’t say it’s too big of a shock, he’d be the first guy to tell you he can’t really skate. And the style of play in the NHL is obviously moving away from every team needing an enforcer at the end of the bench. But Thornton fit so perfectly here. He was as Boston as a Canadian can be. Blue collar, hard working, gritty guy who you’d love to sit down and have a beer with. Perfect locker room guy and a great leader. It honestly sucks to have to let him go, but the writing was on the wall.
