USA TodayThe New England Patriots are allowing fans who purchased an Aaron Hernandez jersey to trade it in for another jersey…no questions asked. The exchange offer is for two days only, July 6 and 7, and must be done at the at the Patriots Pro Shop. The exchange will be allowed only for Hernandez #81 jerseys. (Hernandez wore #85 his rookie year.) From the announcement:

“We know that children love wearing their Patriots jerseys, but may not understand why parents don’t want them wearing their Hernandez jerseys anymore,” said New England Patriots spokesperson Stacey James. “We hope this opportunity to exchange those jerseys at the Patriots ProShop for another player’s jersey will be well received by parents.”

I’ve been saying this whole time that the Pats are handling the Hernandez situation like they’re a high school girl who just broke up with her boyfriend. That sounds like an insult but it’s not. They Dumped him, unfollowed him, blocked him on Twitter, erased his stats. Basically got rid of any footprint of his existence. So this is the logical next step. Get rid of all his stuff. Bring it to Goodwill, throw it out on the lawn, burn it, whatever. Just get the scumbag totally out of your life forever. You’re better off without him, gurl.
