Source – A California man was arrested Tuesday after police pulled him over in a minivan stuffed with hundreds of marijuana plants, as reported by NBC affiliate station KCRA. The drugs have an estimated street value of $500,000, according to Huffington Post. Sheriff’s deputies in Sutter County, California, said the driver and two passengers tried to run from police. One of the passengers was found shortly after, and the driver was found hiding in a field a couple hours later, according to police. Authorities captured 22-year-old Tony Le and 23-year-old Sergio Sanchez-Paz — both are Sacramento residents, according to Huffington Post.
This has to be the biggest morale swing in history. One minute you’re cruising down the highway with $500,000 of weed, imagining all the ways you’ll spend the money, thinking about all the hippie girls fighting over you and then BAM! You’re in the slammer and half of the internet is calling you a moron.
I for one am not so quick to call these kids idiots. They’re 22 years old. That means people have been walking into stores and buying pot where they live since they were THREE years old. What reason do they have to think it’s not okay to drive around in a minivan full of weed? If I was 22 in California I’m pretty sure I’d be more worried about getting caught with a pack of cigarettes and a non recycled styrofoam cup then a few hundred pot plants.
Cali needs to just legalize marijuana already, they are sending mixed messages to an entire generation of kids. You can have weed if you want, but you need to lie about being sick first. They’ve basically turned marijuana laws into the same thing as wanting to stay home from school.
P.S. What’s worse at the age of 22? Facing charges on possession of over a hundred pounds of marijuana, or everyone on Twitter knowing you drive a minivan?
