Is Franklin Park Golf Course In Dorchester The Most LIT Course In The World?
Today our super famous golf podcast the number one golf podcast in the world Fore Play moved to Tuesdays and launched a new episode so I was hanging on the Twitter answering some golf questions. We had on Mass native, PGA Tour golfer and Stoolie Jon Curran so we chatted a bit about Boston golf courses. Some dude asked me about favorite Boston track so I said this.
Now, for golfers that live in Boston or have played Franklin Park, you know all about this place. For those that don’t, it’s actually an old school Donald Ross design in the heart of Dorchester. Dorchester used to be kinda nice and fine; today it’s different. Today it’s the fucking ghetto, and so you’ve got a sweet layout stuck right smack dab in the middle of the ghetto.

Amazing. No joke, the parking lot at FP is LIT. I’m not sure why the locals congregate here of all places but on any nice day with warm weather it’s a fucking rager in the parking lot. Music blaring. Just an unbelievable scene.
The whole vibe at Franklin is just WILD.

I’ve had a child run out and steal my ball right off the eighth green. I’ve seen kids playing in the sand trap with their mom watching like they’re on a family trip to the beach. There have been kids wielding the bunker rakes and jousting with them in the middle of the fairway. There has even been an instance where my buddy had two kids come up to him and wouldn’t leave him alone until he let them swing his clubs and try to hit his ball.

Look, I’m not saying Franklin Park is the most well-manicured, pure golf environment on earth. It’s not. If you’re going there, you need to be ready for fucking battle. You might have some riff raff scurry out, grab your ball, and try to sell it back to you. But it’s an awesome layout, it’s cheap, and the parking lot is a fucking BANGER — if you can’t have a good time with that combo, well then I want nothing to do with you.
