ATKINS, Iowa — An eastern Iowa farm has found a creative way to celebrate “Today” show weatherman Al Roker’s 60th birthday. Bloomsbury Farm in Atkins has put together a 10-acre corn maze that shows Roker’s face and reads, “Happy 60th Al.” Farm owners Dave and Karen Petersen have chosen a different theme for their corn maze each year for more than a decade. They work with The Maize Company, which designs and cuts the corn. Karen Peterson says the couple chose Roker because “he seems like a great guy.” They also appreciate his charity work. The corn maze took six hours to cut and includes two miles for the public to explore. It formally opens during the Labor Day weekend and runs through Halloween.

Is that picture real?  I have my doubts.  It looks computer generated.  But know this, there is a corn maze of Al Roker’s face in Eastern Iowa.  That’s a fact.  If there’s one thing Iowans don’t fuck around and lie about it, it’s corn mazes that look like a national weather broadcaster who made a creepy appearance on an episode of Seinfeld once.  Know that. Happy 60th birthday, Al!  What’s better: getting a lousy cake on your birthday or having hard working Americans dedicate their time and effort to sculpting your face out of corn in to a maze?  That question answers itself.  You take the corn maze every time.  Everybody gets a stupid cake for their birthday.  Only cool people get corn mazes.
