Inauguration Day Prop Bet Betting Guide!

US-VOTE-REPUBLICANS-TRUMP

It’s real, very real. Tomorrow at noon, Donald J. Trump will be sworn in as the 45th President of the United States of America. Amazing. From laughing stock to leader of the free world (and still kinda laughing stock).

Here’s a fun little video of pundits LOL’ing at his candidacy.

It’s been an amazing ride and it ain’t stopping anytime soon. The Inauguration is always a political circus, but tomorrow Trump undoubtedly injects steroids into the whole thing. It’s great.

With political theatre comes great prop bets. You want to be invested. Here we go.

How many times will Trump tweet on January 20th, 2017? Over/under 7.5

Over. Now, I do understand that he’ll be busy a lot of the day. The whole thing’s very ceremonial. There’s like 10 “presidential balls” afterward. He’ll be given the keys to the kingdom, have to make decisions, run the most powerful nation in the history of the planet. It’s tough to crank out 8+ tweets on that kind of day.

But also have to remember that he’ll have a couple pre-planned bullshit tweets. Like “thank you’s” to the performers and the voters and himself and shit. Won’t be a blowout but think we in over 7.5.

Will Trump omit a word of the Presidential Oath? Yes/No

Yes. Justice John Roberts famously fucked up the Presidential Oath in 2009, which prompted Barry to do so as well. I’m not saying it’s the hardest thing in the world, but if Roberts and Obama fucked it up, Trump definitely will. The terms are described as this:

Must clearly omit a word or stop mid-sentence for the inaugurator to repeat him/herself while taking the presidential oath for “Yes” to be graded as a win.

Omit a word OR stop mid-sentence requiring an inaugurator repeat? Yes please. And it’s +250. No-brainer.

Will Trump say “fake news?” Yes/No

No, which is the heavy favorite at -350 but for good reason. Unless a CNN or Buzzfeed reporter somehow sneaks in a question, I don’t see Donnie dropping a “fake news.” Could be wrong though. Kinda hope I’m wrong — Don Don gets all riled up talking fake news.

Length of Trump’s speech: Under 10 mins; 10-14 mins; 14-18 mins; 18-22 mins; Over 22 mins

Inauguration speeches typically aren’t very long. They’re shorter than convention speeches or even your typical stump speech. Obama’s 2009 Inaugural Address, for example, was 18:31. Now Trump is obviously different, and William Henry Harrison spoke for about 45 minutes in 1841, so it’s tricky. The motherfucker is just unpredictable.

My thought is Trump will rile himself up the more he speaks and when he gets riled up he rambles. Will be relatively concise for him, but still long for an Inaugural Address. I’m taking 18-22 mins, which is the favorite at +150.

Total word count of Trump’s speech? Over/under 2,360

Speech word counts dating back to FDR (source).

I don’t think his actual written, prepared speech is over 2,360. And at this point I believe it was at 0:

But when you mix in all of his distractions, tangents, incredible great adjectives, etc., I feel the official transcript will creep up there. Going to be close, but I’m taking the over, which is a pick ‘em.

Trump tie color: Blue, Red, Yellow/Gold, Purple, White/Silver, Black, Other

Blue, just have a feeling.

Which will have the most viewers? AFC Champ Game, NFC Champ Game, Inauguration

AFC Champ game. I hope I’m wrong because as “the politics guy” I like when my lane gets more attention. I like reinforcement that people are fascinated and will continue to be fascinated by the political sideshow. Makes my job easier and better and feel more important and yadda yadda.

But I think the AFC Championship takes the cake. It’s just tough to take down football. Always has been, always will be.

Will Trump’s Inauguration get more viewers than Obama’s 2009 Inauguration (37.93 million)? Yes/No

This is closer than I want it to be but I have to say yes. The ratings throughout this entire election have been through the roof. From Republican debates to nightly cable news to the general election debates, Trump has proven he moves the needle. I don’t see Inauguration being an exception — over 37.93 million viewers.

Tomorrow should be interesting, folks. Nearly two years of “come on, no way” actually coming to fruition. Tune in, sit back, and collect on/cry about those props. There’s no better way to go broke than by watching Trump walk out in the wrong colored tie.
