I Have No Problem With Jerry Jones Signing Greg Hardy
I’m sure this blog will be misconstrued. I’m sure Katie “Harriet Tubman” Nolan will make a youtube that will go viral of why Jerry Jones is the devil. But I actually don’t have a problem with Jerry Jones signing Greg Hardy. I would have had a problem if he backtracked after the photos were released and pretended like he didn’t know what happened. But Jerry Jones didn’t backtrack and he didn’t lie. He basically said they knew what happened and they are giving Greg Hardy a 2nd chance because he’s awesome at football. And the truth of the matter is that is no different than how Greg would be treated with 99% of jobs in America. The charges were dismissed. He was a free man with a talent. Are people saying he shouldn’t ever be allowed to work again? That’s not how he’d be treated in the private sector. If he was some sort of finance wizard he’d be hired immediately. People just want Jerry Jones to be held to a higher standard than the rest of America. It would be nice, but I’m not sure it’s fair.
Again Greg Hardy is a scumbag. That point is beyond debate. He should be behind bars. There was a fundamental break down in the legal system. It shouldn’t matter that Hardy bought his ex girlfriend off. The 911 tape and the photos should have been enough to lock him up. But once the charges were dropped he is free to earn a living. That’s how this country works. I just don’t remember the outrage with Tyson fighting again after he got released from jail? I don’t remember the outrage with Kobe Bryant playing basketball after he bought that chick he raped off. So what’s the difference here?
My point is this isn’t a Jerry Jones issue. There were lots of failings, but Jerry Jones is the least of the problem. You can get mad that Greg Hardy wasn’t arrested. You can get mad that he wasn’t punished more. You can get mad that Goodell fought to uphold deflategate more than Hardy’s suspension. But it’s not Jerry Jones responsibility to punish him for crimes he was acquitted of whether you like it or not.
