I Hate That I Don't Like Kendrick Lamar

This Friday morning was like every Friday morning, I woke up and hopped on over to check out Spotify’s new music Friday playlist. Guess what? Today it stunk. As soon as I tweeted that everyone lost their mind because “WHAT ABOUT THE NEW KENDRICK?!?!” Well, I’m glad you asked because that stunk also.

I don’t like being this way because all cool (read: black) people love Kendrick Lamar and I desperately want to be a cool person, but he does nothing at all for me. I’ve tried and tried and tried every single time he drops new music, but I simply cannot find it in myself to fuck with it and it kills me. I know it’s “good” music according to people who know music, I know he’s supposedly saying important things, though he says them so fast I often have no clue what he said, and I’ve seen the Grammy wins, yet almost every song gets one spin and that’s it.

I guess he’s kinda like The Beatles. I acknowledge that his music is probably good and it’s also music that I would prefer to not have in my ears. I want shit to dance to and have fun, if you can’t give me that then you can go right to hell. The Heart Part 4? I know it makes me uncool but no thank you very much. Now excuse me while I turn up Passionfuit for the 15,000th time.
