Hey Bruins, Try Not To Blow It Again This Year, OK?

Ahh, the last few games of the schedule. When you look at the games back in the fall, you always wonder what kind of relevance they’ll have (and they all have some type even if it’s just draft position). In the NHL, there’s always a few teams that are scratching and clawing down to the wire, looking to extend their season with a puncher’s chance. For the second year in a row, the Boston Bruins will be one of those teams fighting for its life thanks, again, to a ridiculous collapse that has the Bs on the outside looking in just a couple weeks after flirting with the #2 seed.

They’ve won just two of their last nine games and were embarrassed on national TV Sunday vs. the Blackhawks (though it should be noted that they didn’t lay down when it would’ve been easy to). Timely scoring is once again an issue. When they do score a bunch, they give up a bunch. The defense, which has been the team’s major issue all season, got even worse when it lost Dennis Seidenberg and Kevan Miller to injury.

Despite the latest debacle in Chicago, the Bruins (90 points) can still determine whether they play next week or completely embarrass themselves and possibly get their coach fired by totally shitting the bed yet again. If they win their last three games, all at home, vs. Carolina tonight, vs. Detroit on Thursday, and vs. Ottawa on Saturday, they’ll finish third in the Atlantic to get in. Detroit (91 points) also has three games left and Philly, currently the #8 seed also with 91 points, has four games remaining so the final Wild Card is also a possibility for the Bs. But if they win out, they’ll open next week on either the Gulf coast of Florida or the Atlantic coast of Florida.

So it’s time for this team to shit or get off the pot. A month ago, they looked like they might make some noise in the East. Now, the only noise they might make is a loud thud when their season dies and hits the deck. Which Bruins team do we get from here on out? Who the hell knows. But we’re gonna ride it out til the bitter end. Again.

Buckle up, Bs fans.
