Grading the Newest Sex Scandal Teacher
Missouri – A 24-year-old former substitute teacher is charged with having sex with one of her 17-year-old students.
Loryn Barclay of Washburn, Missouri, allegedly had oral sex with the teen in his car and on multiple occasions between November 2016 and January 2017 at his home in while she worked as a substitute teacher at Monett High School in Lawrence County, reported The Monett Times.
She also reportedly admitted having intercourse with him twice at his home. …
Monett City Police Officer Jay Jastal, who works in the school as a resource officer, was tipped off to the alleged relationship on May 3.
The next day, the teacher is said to have admitted an ‘inappropriate relationship’ with the teen.
Barclay had been hired as a substitute teacher in the fall and promoted to paraprofessional in November. In January, she became a teacher assistant. …
Barclay has also worked as a horse riding instructor.
And – She said she had intercourse with the student twice at his home and performed oral sex on the student at North Park, each of the incidents occuring between November and December 2016.
Loryn Barclay is the Wikipedia-quality example of what we in the Sex Scandal Teacher grading business like to call a “meteoric rise.” (I know that’s a bit of an oxymoron since meteors plummet to Earth, but we’ve got our senseless cliches too.) I mean, just look at that career. In September, she’s just a sub. By November, they make her a paraprofessional. She no sooner goes full time and she’s giving the kid blowies in the park. In January she’s promoted to teaching assistant. And by May she’s getting questioned by a cop and bragging about her exploits.
Wow. All I can say is wow. This is like Ken Griffey Jr. or ARod being rushed through the minors and thriving. She is Markelle Fultz, playing JV on his high school team and being the No. 1 pick in the NBA three years later. Most SSTs take a decade or more to pull off the total fall from grace. She squeezed an entire career into nine months. It just goes to show that if you believe in yourself, work hard enough, have some talent to go along with a complete lack of self control and common sense, you can achieve your dreams. In the words of Kevin Garnett, “Anything is posssibbbllle!!!”
The Grades:
Looks: When I first saw that mugshot I thought she had a lot of promise. Like Missouri version of Heather Morris who played Brittany on Glee and was just on Dancing with the Stars. But that’s what happens sometimes when you’re evaluating these young risers: You make snap judgments. She’s actually much better than that.
Grade: A-
Moral Compass/Bad Judgment: Granted, four incidents isn’t a lot. But she squeezed a lot of living into those four encounters. Car head. BJs in the park. Banging the kid at his parents house. An admission. And sure, we don’t have the sweet, sweet details about phone sex or other students. But there was so little time. It’s a shame she got caught so early in her career because with a little longevity, she could’ve set records.

Intangibles: Loryn is the kind of riding instructor we all would’ve liked to have.

Overall: B+. In another year, she’d be the star. But we’re not even halfway through 2017 and she finds herself on All Star team bubble right now.
