George Michael Just Had His Funeral? That's Too Long To Wait For A Funeral, George

(Source)The singer George Michael has been laid to rest during a private ceremony with his family and close friends. In a statement released on Wednesday, his family thanked fans from across the world for their messages of love and support. The former Wham! star died in December last year at the age of 53. His body was found by his former partner, hairdresser Fadi Fawaz at his home in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on Christmas Day. The private funeral for the Faith singer was held on Wednesday, his publicist said.

I love George Michael, I’m probably the biggest George Michael fan currently writing this very blog, I celebrate the first windows down day of every summer by driving around and blasting “Wake Me Up Before You Go” as loud as possible. But, I’m sorry, I need to step up here and say that my hero has gone too far. George Michael, waiting three months for your funeral is too long to wait for your funeral.

I know George was a trendsetter, he made incredible contributions that were important to the growth of fashion, music, and kissing dudes, but this one can’t catch on.

When you hear about a death you’ve got a process to go through. You hit shock then sadness then “OK I need to make sure I get the funeral day off.” What am I supposed to do if you wait three months for the funeral, George and Michael family? Am I just not allowed to put anything on my calendar for the foreseeable future? Forgive me, but that’s quite an ask. Life goes on, as they say. Can’t sit in my apartment, weeping, playing Faith on repeat, and waiting for the funeral call forever, you know?

Since I’m a selfless man when I die, probably in the next week or so, have my funeral right away. Get drunk, bury me in a hole (any hole will do), stay drunk for the week, then get on with your life. That’s just the kinda guy I am. If I die bury me before the seasons turn, that’s my gift to you.
