Thats it, the last player from the 2008 championship team is gone. Rajon Rondo was traded today to the Mavericks in exchange for a late first round pick and 2 players who have never averaged more than 10 points in their careers. Danny Ainge obviously realized Rondo was gone after the year anyway and decided to take what he can get but this still sucks. Rondo came into the league with Boston, was the little brother on the 2008 championship team and has been one of the most exciting, consistent players in this city throughout his tenure here. To be honest when I tweeted out he was probably headed to the Mavs I was shocked at the number of “good riddance”, “tough to lose the leader on a 30 win team” tweets I got back.  Maybe its because I was 14 when he got drafted and have grown up watching him make seemingly impossible plays night in and night out but losing Rondo is going to suck, especially considering the players they got in return for him.  With Rondo gone the tank is officially on, no reason to even bother competing now, just try and play as bad as possible in hopes of somehow landing Okafor in the draft. Goodbye sweet prince, you shall be missed

PS – now that we have Jameer Nelson can we dig Delonte out of whatever hole he’s under and get the band back together?
