After Doing Extensive Research On Domestic Abuse Jerry Jones Decides To Give Greg Hardy 11 Million Dollars

ESPN - The Dallas Cowboys have signed Greg Hardy to a one-year, $11.3 million deal that could be worth up to just over $13 million, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Although Hardy could face a league suspension for violating the NFL’s domestic conduct policy, the team said it agreed to terms with the former Carolina Panthers defensive end on Wednesday. The team confirmed the deal Wednesday afternoon on Twitter. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said in a statement that the team spent “a great deal of time” meeting with Hardy and reviewing his situation. “Obviously a great deal of our study was dedicated to the issue of domestic violence, and the recent events that associated Greg with that issue,” Jones said. “We know that Greg’s status remains under review by the National Football League. “Our organization understands the very serious nature of domestic violence in our society and in our league. We know that Greg has a firm understanding of those issues as well.”

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had been pursuing Hardy as well, but they pulled out of the running Wednesday.  “At the end of the day, we didn’t feel good about it,” general manager Jason Licht told the Tampa Bay Times.

Carolina placed the franchise tag on Hardy in February 2014, guaranteeing him $13.1 million for the season. On May 13, he was arrested and charged with assaulting and threatening to kill ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder. A Mecklenburg (North Carolina) County judge found Hardy guilty on July 15. The verdict was set aside when Hardy requested a jury trial. All charges were dropped on Feb. 9 because Holder refused to cooperate with the district attorney’s office after receiving a financial settlement from Hardy.

Listen I’m not going to say anything new about the NFL that people don’t already know in this blog, but I’m gonna say it anyway.   I’m just going to reiterate the facts.   And those facts are that the NFL is the most hypocritical organization in the world.  I mean by all accounts Greg Hardy is a mega scumbag.  What he did to his ex girlfriend sounds about a billion times worse than what Ray Rice did..  The only difference is there wasn’t a video. Regardless the 911 call is flat out horrifying.  Clearly he bought his girlfriend off to avoid jail.  That’s fine.  He’s rich.  That’s what rich people do. And clearly he can help the Cowboys win football games so they signed him.  Again that’s their prerogative.   But let’s just not sit here and pretend anybody in the NFL gives a fuck about domestic violence.  Let’s not pretend anything has changed post Ray Rice.  Let’s not parade NFL players out in those commercials where they cry all over each other.   The NFL, the owners, the players do not care.   If you can help win football games and public pressure doesn’t force their hand there is literally nothing you can’t do in this league.

I understand that.  I’m not even mad about it.  But what does infuriate me is when the NFL bigwigs talk to us like children.  When they hold these sham press conferences acting like they suddenly give a fuck.  Hey Jerry Jones you don’t care about domestic violence.  If you did you wouldn’t sign Hardy.   So don’t tell me about how you studied domestic violence before signing Hardy.  I don’t need the Bucs to say they didn’t sign him because they didn’t feel good about it.   Don’t piss on me and tell me it’s raining. The league doesn’t care about domestic violence.  Never did.  Never will.  I know it.  You know it.  Everybody knows it. .  So all we ask is don’t treat us like we’re stupid.  That’s it.  Is that too much to ask?

Same thing really with concussions.  If they cares so much they’d get rid of the preseason and shorten the schedule.  If anything they are doing the opposite.  It’s all about money and it always is.
