Wake Up With The Rockies Winning Game 163 (2007)

I know some people hate that MLB expanded their playoff format in 2012 to include two Wild Card teams, but I absolutely love it and it didn’t take any time for me to warm up to it. The only reason I didn’t have any resistance towards it at first was because of this game right here — Game 163 in 2007 between the Colorado Rockies and the San Diego Padres.

This tie-breaker is what baseball’s all about. Baseball’s not like the NBA. In the NBA these days, you don’t even have to watch a single second of the regular season to know who you’re going to see in the finals. Nobody had the Rockies in the World Series coming into 2007, and the World Series participants aren’t always the best teams in each league. It’s the teams who get hot come October, and nobody in baseball was even close to being as hot as the 2007 Rockies, who had won 21 of 22 games coming into the World Series before running into the buzzsaw that was the 2007 Boston Red Sox. Regardless of how it ended, this was one of the most exciting runs we’ve seen from a team in quite some time.
