Wake Up With Roberto Alomar Hitting A Game-Tying HR Off Dennis Eckersley In ALCS Game 4 (1992)

Damn, Dennis. Back at it again giving up the postseason home runs. It doesn’t even matter if it’s the postseason or not. I just can’t watch Dennis Eckersley giving up a home run and not think of Kirk Gibson in ’88. I looked it up out of curiosity, and Eck only allowed three home runs in 36 career postseason innings — this one to Roberto Alomar in the ’92 ALCS, the ’88 World Series game-winner to Gibson in Game 1, and Manny Ramirez got him for one in the 1998 ALDS. I mean, if you’re gonna give up bombs in the postseason, it might as well be to a Hall of Famer, the league MVP that year, and a should-be Hall of Famer if the voters eventually get it right some day. Oh, and it also doesn’t hurt when you’re a Hall of Famer yourself.
