Jose Bautista And Yoenis Cespedes Respond To Goose Gossage Calling Them 'A Fucking Disgrace To The Game'
Earlier today, Hall of Famer Goose Gossage chimed in on Jose Bautista and Yoenis Cespedes, and how he hates bat-flips and showboating in baseball.
“Bautista is a fucking disgrace to the game,” Gossage told ESPN. “He’s embarrassing to all the Latin players, whoever played before him. Throwing his bat and acting like a fool, like all those guys in Toronto. [Yoenis] Cespedes, same thing.”
Word travels fast, and both Bautista and Cespedes were already asked what they thought about Gossage’s comments. Bautista predictably took the high road in his response.
“He’s a great ambassador for the game,” Bautista told ESPN. “I don’t agree with him. I’m disappointed that he made those comments, but I’m not going to get into it with him. I would never say anything about him, no matter what he said about me. I have too much good stuff to worry about his comments. Today’ is my first game [of the spring,] getting ready for a new season, hopefully, we will whoop some more ass.”
In other words, yeah, I get it. Get off your lawn. You’re old and cranky now, and what you say really doesn’t matter anymore. I’m gonna go smash 40 dingers (again), knock in 100 runs (again) and then make more money in year-one of my next contract, as a 36-year-old, than what you made in your entire career multiplied by three. And then I’m gonna do that again and again over the next four years of that deal. Fuck off.
Cespedes’ reaction to Gossage’s comments were gold. Yo knows baseball, but Yo doesn’t know Goose Gossage.
