Eric Thames Hit A Walk-Off Bomb, His Second Straight Night With A Game-Winning Homer

Eric Thames hit a walk-off bomb for the Brewers last night, his third straight game with a home run and his second straight night with a game-winning homer. He hit a two-run dinger on Thursday night to beat the Cardinals in St. Louis, and followed that up by burying the Padres in Milwaukee.

We’re less than a month away from the All Star break, and the Milwaukee Brewers are in first place, two and a half games up on the Cubs in the NL Central. For those who were waiting for Thames to slow down, it hasn’t really happened yet. He’s still leading the National League in homers (19), he still has an OPS over a thousand (1.012), and he’s still first in the National League in isolated power (.340), second to only Aaron Judge for the major league lead.

He also looks the part, too. You take one look at 21-year-old Dodgers rookie Cody Bellinger, and he doesn’t look like someone who’s one home run behind Thames in 60 fewer plate appearances. But after his walk-off home run last night, the Brewers ripped off Thames’ jersey and HOLY SHIT.
