Uber's CEO Getting Baited Into An Argument With A Driver Over Low Fares Continues A Rough Run For Those Guys

(the part with their discussion starts at 4:00, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick going off on the driver is at 5:50)

NBC News – An Uber driver who filmed his argument with the company’s CEO told NBC News on Wednesday that the firm does not care if drivers are “not even making minimum wage.”

Fawzi Kamel was giving a ride to Uber boss Travis Kalanick when he took the opportunity to complain about falling fares. This resulted in a heated exchange, ending with Kalanick saying: “You know what? Some people don’t like to take responsibility for their own s***. They blame everything in their life on somebody else. Good luck!”

The 40-year-old CEO got out and slammed the door. Kamel gave him a one-star rating and handed dashcam footage of the incident to Bloomberg.

Giving Kalanick a one-star rating on the way out and making sure the media knows that as part of the story is a hilarious move. 2017: The Year of Spite continues carrying on its proud traditions.

But more than that, this continues a rough run for Uber:

Now for another company it seems like this could be a precursor to a whole bunch of problems, generally CEOs getting blown up via hidden camera arguing with their perhaps-underpaid workforce is not a good reflection of where the company’s future is going. But Uber has a $68 billion valuation and might have one of the biggest IPOs ever. So my question is: What would it actually take to totally ruin their company? With that much money, this many jobs (“jobs”) tied up in their existence, local transportation flow, all the gigantic and extremely influential investors behind them, all these things that Uber has grabbed a foothold on in the last eight years, they’re almost like the banks were when they were too big to fail. They’d practically have to be the real life version of Pizzagate to sink the ship at this point.

So hey if you’re Travis Kalanick fuck it, why not just go off the deep end? After you hear him shit all over this driver and act like him squeezing margins to attempt to kill competition is somehow the driver’s fault, you just know he has complete disdain for so many people around him. So let it fly, berate drivers, laugh off sexual harassment claims, push forward self-driving cars even when California’s DMV demanded the cars off the road with an eye toward public danger due to how often they were crashing, this guy is almost untouchable. If Mark Zuckerberg won’t be the ultra rich villain he’s born to be, someone out there has to be fill in.
