This 17-Year-Old Chick's Description Of Stabbing Some Woman 21 Times Is One Of The Wildest Works Of Writing I've Ever Read

CBS News – An Austin teen who in 2015 stabbed a stranger multiple times because prosecutors say she wanted to know what it was like to kill someone will spend the next 15 years in prison, reports CBS affiliate KEYE.

Pearl Moen was convicted in the Nov. 14, 2015 attack, in which she approached a woman napping in a park and stabbed her 21 times. The victim survived, but suffered massive blood loss, a collapsed lung, and permanent nerve and tendon damage.

Moen had a history of drug use and psychological issues, but no criminal record. She hid in the bushes watching the victim prior to the stabbing, which prosecutors said she carried out because she wanted to know what it would feel like to commit murder.

In a diary entry included in court documents, Moen depicted the stabbing, calling it “absolutely fantastic.”

“So, okay, I’ll start with the exciting bit. I stabbed an innocent woman to death earlier today. (Technically yesterday since it’s 1 am). It was absolutely fantastic. Murder gives me a high unlike any other, it feels like this crisp unreality. Flashing & sparkling. Adrenaline & shock. Fight or flight mode. How do I even go about describing it. The whole thing was unreal. I’m so proud of myself. I stabbed her like 20 times. Maybe more. I wasn’t counting. She screamed & grabbed at me saying “what the f***?! Help. Leave.” For now, I should explain why. Other than the fact that I’m a homicidal psychopath. I have a deep hatred towards people right now…Yesterday I lost my other gold ring I’ve worn all my life on a chain as it was ripped off by a girl I was murdering. Fate is weird…”

That’s some fucked up shit to read. But also there’s something so visceral about it, a pure look into a completely warped mind. And it also feels sort of like fiction, something that some Goth teen wrote in the early 00s on their Livejournal after a particularly moving visit to Hot Topic. But it’s REAL. She actually fucking did that! And yeah she’s crazy as shit, writing like she’s Bret Easton Ellis’s vision of Patrick Bateman murdering a homeless man in an alleyway. But compared to some of the other crazy people screeds I’ve seen over time, that’s a pretty well written breakdown. I mean Charles Manson, what’s that guy doing? Not clever wordplay that’s for sure. But this 17-year-old knife wielding crazy person completely aware of what she did, her brain seems to be functioning about as well as it can, and she’s capping it off with a “Fate is weird…” as if she’s wrapping up a tale about meeting a cute boy at Whole Foods. You just don’t see things like this writing often, probably for the best, but that’s some real #content there.

That said: How do you give this chick only 15 years in jail after this? You read this writing, this is not the words of a person who needs to be out in the world. This isn’t someone who gets out of jail, gets a job as a barista and lives a happy and healthy life. I mean she’s done. DONE. And what someone is going to have this chick in their life or their house in the future without a full-on old school 1920s lobotomy? Zero percent chance, about as high of a chance as her not gleefully counting each stab like she lied about in that writeup. Throw away the key here and get her a blog on Elite Daily or some other attention whoring chick writing site, it’s her destiny.

Also shout to the girl being written about by Pearl Moen who surviving getting stabbed 21 times, that’s some 50 Cent level survival skills there. And it has the added bonus of ruining this chick’s little “I’m such a damaged murderer narrative.” Classic win-win when one of your vital organs hasn’t been punctured by a psycho’s knife.
