Roundup: Every Single Thing That Happened During Round 3 Of March Madness

4 straight days of basketball, and I’m taking full days, nonstop, noon to midnight hoops. Best day 1 ever, standard day 2 then a real solid weekend of games. My eyes are bleeding and I haven’t seen sunlight since Wednesday, Vitamin D deficiency like you read about. The Sweet 16 is now set, let’s check in on the highlights of how we got there.

Roundup time…let’s eat.

First game of the 3rd round annddd we were off to slow start. UCLA domination, as explained by their points in the paint chart:

Kentucky got a little bit of a scare for a while here. The big bad bullies didn’t like getting bullied back and punched in the mouth, could tell Cinci was getting under their skin.

At the end of the day, Cinci just couldn’t shoot or make layups or score, which is important to beating Kentucky.

This was closer than the final score but Zona was just too much at the end. Russell had an off game and McConnell was an animal. Hollis-Jefferson shimmy game was on point.

Also it’s never good when the other team is rebounding on you while sitting down.

Hilliard single-handedly gave them a shot in this one, heat check city.

But Abu was too much.

Damn, wish I stuck to my guns and rode Utah through the tourney. I said in my bracket breakdown that I loved them all season but thought they ran out of gas, they came out and proved me wrong with 2 very convincing wins.

Don’t think they have a chance taking down Duke though.

Another game closer than the final score. That dude Qualls on Arkansas was an absolute beast and refused to let them lose, but at the end of the day, just too much talent on the Heels.

Sooo sloppy at the end here but still a great one. Notre Dame tried as hard as they could to lose this game I’m shocked they pulled it out.

You’ll be seeing this Connaughton block for a longgg time.

And then Mike Brey just calmy dropped this in the middle of his press conference.

Damn, must have been impossible to keep it together.

One word. Trice. A bunch of other words: Virginia can’t score and it was their downfall.

As good as Trice was, that’s how awful his mom was while other guys were shooting free throws.

Izzo how do you do it you crazy bastard?!

You thought Virginia couldn’t score? Holy shit. SDSU made them look like the ’90 Runnin Rebels.

Duke went full clinic mode.

And Chris Webber said Justise Winslow is the best defensive player Duke has ever had, in history.

I was pulling for Dayton, they’re just such a fan favorite and was looking forward to having some easy riot blogs for this morning. Oklahoma was too much down the stretch, and Dayton having 0 FGs in the final 9 minutes wasn’t very good for them.

This was the sequence that basically ended it. Would have cut it to 2 here.

Knew Oregon would give Wisco problems, I watched them a lot this year in their late west coast games and Joseph Young is the truth. Badgers pulled it out despite Frank looking slow and soft all game on O (his D was excellent at the end and saved them though), they’re going to need to be MUCH better if they want to beat UNC.

Oregon went down looking fresh though…

WVU was going to win this game anyway, but once Trimble went out it was basically set in stone that this one was over.

Kid was electric all year, loved watching him play, sucks to see him go out on the bench like this.

Sidenote, I LOVE this West Virginia team. I picked Buffalo and I was dead fucking wrong about WVU, I admit that 100%. Now that that’s out of the way I will fully be rooting for them to take down Kentucky, which they absolutely have a shot to do if they play as hard as they did in this one. Force 100 turnovers and get the crowd behind you and they could pull it off.
