Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - August 26

KMARKO-HR

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Annnnd, we’re back to dogshit lineups.

I hate baseball.

(*I mentioned it a bunch at the beginning, but I guess we got some new fans because a lot of people have been asking lately what tournaments I play in. I put my optimal lineup in whatever the best $27-$100 tournament of the night is, then throw some secondary “hunch” lineups into the cheap Moonshot tournament just for fun. Sometimes 1, sometimes 5, depending on how good I feel about the night)

Blog picks – Huge night from Miggy, always happy when my big money bat pays off for everyone. No such luck for the other guys – bummer games from Grandy and Calhoun, dud from Flores.

Let’s try to turn it around tonight, but probably won’t, because everything sucks.

PITCHER NOTES:

-Sale or Archer? Both guys will cost you, both guys will make it extremely hard to fit good bats in your lineup…and both guys have a legitimate shot at 50 point games.

-Dropping down a little we have Price and Cueto. Personally I like Cueto in a matchup with the ice cold Orioles, but you all know the type of upside Price can give you.

-Shelby Miller is at a pretty sweet price point at home against a Rockies team that might be without CarGo. Definitely a consideration.

-Mid Tier guys – Verlander has looked sharp and gets the struggling Angels, Corbin is the definition of hit or miss, Gio is a guy that is really hard to trust but you can’t argue with the matchup

-Value plays…I don’t even know tonight. Maybe Locke against Miami? Big Sexy against Philly? Eh. Might want to splurge up a little bit.

HITTERS

OF Curtis Granderson $4.6K

You know the drill by now. If I pick a guy on the blog and he puts up a dud leaving me looking like an idiot…he homers the next game. Like clockwork. And that is the difference me and the experts, the people who do this stuff professionally and make a living off it…they analyze advanced metrics and stats you’ve never even heard of, I convince myself there are magic fantasy curses and make my picks on borderline witchcraft. Not saying one is better than the other.*

*Their way is definitely better.

2B Jason Kipnis $4.2K

Here’s a guy we haven’t seen in a while. Jason Kipnis, who was probably the premier second basemen at the beginning of the year, putting up monster numbers…then ended up on the DL for a while and everyone forgot about him. He’s been scuffling a little since he’s been back, but it drove the price way down and he finally put up a big 25 spot last night. I like the spot for him tonight against Nelson and think he can start a little hot streak.

VALUE PLAY

OF Yasiel Puig $3.6K

You guys know I hate rostering Dodgers because they always, literally ALWAYS let me down. Every single time they’re projected to be a top 3 offense, I load up on their bats and ended up with like a 60 point lineup. But I’ve been so cold lately that I decided to switch it up and go against my better instincts here and take Puig in a plus matchup. I mean on paper this should be a great play, but who knows with Puig. Who knows with the f*cking Dodgers. Probably get no hit again.

I was tempted to go Ryan Howard here who absolutely owns the Mets, so keep him in mind if you’re looking for more value plays to squeeze big name pitchers in.

Hit me up @kmarkobarstool to talk shit to me about how much my picks suck
