Kansas/Oklahoma Was Whatever The Next Level Above "Instant Classic" Is

Instant classic doesn’t even do it justice. One of the best regular season NCAA hoops games I’ve ever seen played, and that’s not hyperbole because it’s the flavor-of-the-moment: The #1 and #2 teams in the country squaring off, each team holding a double digit lead at some point yet still going to triple overtime, two superstars going head to head, Dickie V and Musburger on the call. It was actually statistically historic.

Don’t want to make you feel bad or anything, but if you missed the game suicide is a real option.

Here’s a full, long video of all the highlights if you have 10 minutes and want to see more than the abbreviated one above:

But here are the main takeaways:

Buddy Hield is The Man.

He was already a Player of the Year candidate going into the season, but if he was under the radar for the casual fan, he ain’t anymore.

Perry Ellis:

1) Ellis was officially the Player of the Game since KU got the win, and if Buddy Hield didn’t exist, that would be fine – he was a beast.

2) Nobody can convince me Perry Ellis isn’t the 45 year old father of a teenage son in his 18th year of eligibility.

Can we talk about that inbounds pass?

I don’t want to mar the game with complaints about the refs. But like…this play cost Oklahoma the game. Pretty sure you need to at least have an opportunity to pass the ball in?

Wayne Selden killed it.

The roar of the crowd when that and-1 3 happened is something I would give my left nut to be able to experience.

Safe to say I am now officially in college hoops mode.

PS,

Hilarious.
