Josh Gordon Is Looking For A New Agent Who Can Float Him Money Because He's Now 'Desperate For Cash' After His Suspensions

St. Louis Rams v Cleveland Browns

PREVIOUSLY: The NFL Has Denied Josh Gordon’s Reinstatement Request Again

TMZ Sports – Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is reportedly in dire financial straights and desperately hunting for a new agent who will float him some cash until he gets reinstated … if that ever happens.

He was hoping to get reinstated last week — but the NFL rejected his application and he won’t get to apply again until September.

Meantime, he’s running low on that NFL dough, so says Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole who described Gordon’s money issues as a “desperate financial situation.”

Cole also notes that Gordon was fired by his agent, Joby Branion, and is hoping to sign with a new agent (one with a bankroll) in the hopes of getting a cash advance.

Josh Gordon has made around $4.2 million in his playing career so far so I get how you might not feel a ton of sympathy for him going broke. And yes, his fellow players agreed to the terms in the collective bargaining agreement that have resulted in him being suspended for longer than PED abusers, domestic abusers, and drunk drivers. But the more I see about Josh Gordon, the more it bums me out. He’s a guy who looked like he had the world by the balls in his first few years, leading the NFL in receiving in 14 games in 2013. And now he can’t even earn a living in football because of some combination of his own choices and the NFL’s draconian policies. It was kind of a joke when he worked as a car salesman a few years back and “was going to keep doing it during the ban” but now it’s at a point where he might actually have to take that job and be really fucking good at it just to make ends meet. How fucking castrating is that? This is a dude whose whole life has been dedicated to football, he wasn’t ready to do anything else. He’s like Brooks from Shawshank Redemption, he doesn’t know a life outside the field and now his prime earning years are being lit on fire because he fucking loves a drug decriminalized in almost every state. That blows to me.

He may be an idiot, he may not deserve the sympathy after burning through millions and ounces in the face of serious NFL punishments. But to see a dude that talented not be able to get close to scratching the surface of the thing of his potential in a job he was born to do because he smokes weed? It’s a loss for football fans, it’s a loss for his team, and it’s a neverending shitty loss for Josh Gordon.
