News-LeaderNixa football fans know Chase Allen is tough, but he took toughness to a new level when he stood up and walked away after being hit by a car.

Allen, a 2016 Nixa graduate now on the football team at Iowa State, said he was hit by a car Thursday night just outside the Cyclones’ practice facility in Ames, Iowa.

“I was crossing the street and a car didn’t see me but I had time to react and jump,” Allen said.

Allen landed on the car’s windshield, which shattered upon impact. Allen said he had a large amount of broken glass in his back, but managed to avoid hitting his head or suffering any bone injuries.

Allen popped up and was taken to an emergency room by some of his Iowa State coaches.

Allen took 103 stitches on his back after being cut by shattered windshield glass.

After being hit by a car, Allen is already concerned with how soon he will be able to compete for playing time at tight end.

Feel like no matter what Iowa State freshman Chase Allen does for the rest of his career, he’s got his NFL Combine scouting report locked up right? I mean you want to talk about buzzwords – grit, toughness, dedication, physicality. I think getting drilled by a car and obliterating the windshield and ending up with 84% of it stuck directly into your back then casually hopping up and strolling over to the ER and telling the doctors to hurry the fuck up so you can get back to the tight end competition takes care of that.

Life can be tough for a ginger, but being 6’6″, 225, heavily recruited by a major D1 program, and being literally stronger than a speeding automobile is a good way to counteract that. May be from Missouri but it looks like he’s already got that cornfed farmboy Iowa country-boy strength running through his blood.
