247Defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon (Leesburg, Ga./Lee County) sees relationships as an important part of the recruiting process. With that in mind, a recent snafu has caused the U.S. Army All-American to de-commit from Michigan.

“A day or two ago, they sent my mom a card thanking us for going to the Michigan bbq, but we never went,” Solomon said. “I do not know which recruit they were talking to, but it was not me. It was just a little heartbreaking, for me to supposedly be so high on their list, for them to confuse me with someone else. Plus they spelled both of my names wrong after I told them, but that was not the main issue. I guess they do not have tabs on me.”

Solomon says that while Michigan is still high on his list, he plans to look at Georgia, Alabama, USC, Oregon, Clemson, and Florida as well.

“Georgia is pretty high up there,” Solomon said. “They will be in my final group. I know my mom loves them.”

First of all, we can only hope that the official Thank You Letter Writer in the Michigan athletic department shoved all of his shit into a file box and sprinted his ass out the back door before Coach Harbaugh came through. Don’t care how bad you are at your job…having to face Jim Harbaugh after he finds out you just cost him his new 4-star D tackle because of a typo is a fate I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. That 6’3″, 305 pound behemoth that really wanted to play for the Wolverines now taking his talents to the warm weather of Athens, Georgia because you thanked him when he didn’t deserve to be thanked.

People have joined Witness Protection for less.

As for Aubrey Solomon, I can’t even imagine how happy and blessed his life has been so far if getting an accidental thank you letter with your name spelled slightly wrong is classified as “heartbreaking.” But it’s gotta be nice. I know it’s tough, but hopefully he can put this traumatic mail experience behind him and continue his career at a place that truly values him and definitely doesn’t have any interns who make labeling mistakes.
