Bree Olson Talking About Life After Being A Porn Star Is Pretty Powerful Stuff

Adult Video News Awards At The Hard Rock - Arrivals

Daily Dot – It wasn’t until I decided to leave the industry at 25 that I realized how much society was judging me. I had always pushed them out of my mind but because I had gotten sucked into a media frenzy I was exposed to the masses and it killed me to see how they thought of me.

I left a career where I made millions to try and gain respect. I pushed and struggled for years. People look at me as if I am the same as a sex offender. They look at me as though I am less than in every way, and they assume the absolute worst in every way. I had never realized how progressive my mind was and how scared people were of sexuality until this. I also realized I could never go back and be a nurse or a teacher, or work for any company really that can fire me under morality clauses for making customers feel “uncomfortable” because of who I am.

There are no royalties in porn. I see ads to this day, and my movies are everywhere on the Internet. These faceless people behind the industry still make millions and face no repercussions, and I am left to try and come up with ideas of how to have my own business because there’s not much else I can do. We are the only entertainment industry that doesn’t offer talent royalties after they are gone. So now I am shunned by society and broke.

Porn didn’t hurt me. The way society treats me for having done it does.

The whole article is legitimately worth a read, I didn’t wake up expecting to feel moved by the struggles of a porn star outside of a normal Spankbang loop this morning but that article did it for me. And I’m sure Bree’s stance on the experience isn’t one for all porn stars — I realize we have one accessible in our office I can ask but…weird — but I could absolutely see how she’s right. I’m not sure she did herself any favors either by hanging out with the likes of “tiger blood”-era Charlie Sheen or anything like that but fundamentally she did a job that entertained and brought joy to a lot of people’s lives and it’s sad that she feels like she’s being victimized because of it. The people getting shish kebab’d on film for the sake of our mediocre sex lives should be revered, they’re basically giving a piece of themselves for you every single day. Some are cool with that I’m sure and totally fine. But for chicks like Bree Olson who are feeling like Brooks from Shawshank after leaving the business, it’s sad that they might be going through that.

And honestly it does seem sort of fucked up that they don’t get royalties or anything when it’s their lady bits and sweet dicks out there in perpetuity forever. Especially now that the porn industry has somehow found ways to monetize things despite porn being free online everywhere, it seems like maybe it’s time for the people in front of the camera actually doing the hard (heh) work to have their financial dreams come (heh) to fruition. #TeamBree #AndNotBecauseTheresOneSceneIRememberWhereSheGotBangedByTwoBlack
