A Conservative Speaker's Session At DePaul University Got Completely Taken Over By Anti-Trump Protestors And Security Refused To Help

Breitbart – Milo Yiannopoulos’ event at DePaul University had to be cut short Tuesday night after protesters stormed the stage, blew whistles, grabbed the microphone out of the interviewer’s hand, and threatened to punch Yiannopoulos in the face.

Yiannopoulos attempted to continue the event, but protesters refused to leave the stage and the group of security guards (which DePaul forced both the organisers and Breitbart to pay for) refused to intervene.

The male ringleader continued to pace along the stage with his whistle, refusing to let Yiannopoulos speak for extended amounts of time, while the female ringleader forcibly snatched the microphone from the interviewer’s hand and shouted at Yiannopoulos just inches away from his face.

You want to see how Donald Trump wins a Presidential election? That’s exhibit A right there. For as much as this Yiannopoulous guy is a “hot takes” columnist out there attempting to provoke a reaction, the guy deserves a chance to speak at an event paid for by a group of DePaul Republican kids interested in what he has to say. And that’s the thing these protesters don’t get, that the media who continues to pile on Donald Trump like he’s a clown and has no real chance in winning: The more you try to silence people and not give them a chance to be entitled to their own thoughts, the more you’re only going to ensure they have a record turnout that easily exceeds the lethargy currently going on Hillary’s side. You think every person in that room isn’t running out to vote for Trump after basically having a version of their right to assemble taken away by people with no real point to make? You shit on someone’s beliefs, or even freedom to hear something and make an informed decision, like that and they’re not going to take it well.

But more than that the additional layer of 2016 college hypocrisy on display here is what blows my mind. So people at schools can have safe spaces and teachers can think that they’re able to remove media from public areas when it’s convenient but an organized group of people who rented a space, paid for security and a speaker, and got together within guidelines to the school can’t get basic protection for themselves? Like that Yiannopolous guy and the moderator legitimately seemed in danger or at least physically threatened in a real way (and apparently were even more so after the event) but they have no rights because they’re talking about something unpopular? It’s fucked up man. You can’t get less American in respecting people’s freedoms just because it’s not the same view of America you have.
