Ask The Bartender

The Girls of the Dockside

Dockside
183 State St., Boston
(617) 723-7050

1. What is the Boom, Boom Room and what goes on in there?

Melissa - The Boom Boom Room is the downstairs club. We have live bands and DJs down there. As for the name...we'll leave that to your imagination.

Heena - Sorry boys and girls, the Boom Boom Room isn't exactly what it sounds like, but it's definitely a good time. And as far as what goes on down there, you're just going to have to come and find out for yourself!

Julia - The Boom Boom Room is only the craziest room in Boston! Come find out I promise you won't be disappointed.

2. If you were giving a guy advice on picking up a hot chick at a bar what would you tell him?

Melissa - Be yourself and tip big.

Heena - I would say smile at her. If she smiles back, she's probably pretty friendly. Even if you don't score a date, at least you'll be the guy that was talking to the hot girl at the bar last night! And who knows, you may have made a new friend.

Julia - Buy a box of altoids! Do you know how many guys I have met with bad breath? That's the worst!

3. What would you do for Red Sox opening Day tickets?

Melissa - Pretty much anything, especially this year! It would be pretty cool to see them get their rings. But on the other hand it's always a good day to work because everyone is out watching the game.

Heena - Opening day is against the Yankees so I'd love to be there.

Julia - What wouldn't I do?? Come on is the question for real? If you're a die-hard Sox fan, you know what I'm talking about.

4. How much does a guy have to tip you to get extra special service and what would that entail?

Melissa - There is no set amount a guy has to tip to get better service. Big tips can help, but if the guy is a jerk it doesn't make that big of a difference.

Heena - I know the name "The Boom Boom Room" may be deceiving, but this isn't that kind of bar! Everyone gets equally great service and smiles are always for free.

Julia - More money than you can afford. Nice try, sweetheart.

5. What’s the best part about working at the Dockside?

Melissa - There's always something going on when you work in a bar. You're meeting new people and seeing a different side of people you thought you knew... it can be interesting...

Heena - Working in any bar is a lot of fun. But the best part is that I consider everyone here my friends rather than my co-workers and that's what sets the Dockside apart.

Julia -We're like a family. I love everyone I work with. You wanna meet some drunks?... we could drink anyone under the table. We definitely know how to party like Rockstars!
