Ask The Bartender

The Girls from the Junction in South Boston

The Junction
100 Dorchester Street
South Boston

1. What is the best and worst thing about Southie guys?

Katrina - The worst thing about Southie guys is how some of them think they can walk into a bar and get any girl they’d like. Sometimes I wonder if they even think before they speak, I doubt it! One of the things I do like about most Southie guys, is the way that they are very friendly and down to earth dudes. This mainly applies to men who live in South Boston, but are not originally from here.

Danielle - The best thing I like about Southie guys is their bad boy attitude. What you see, is what you get! The worst thing about them is the way they tend to be pretty boys. It seems like they spend more time at the tanning salon and getting waxed than I would. Those damn Metrosexuals are just too high maintenance for me!

2. Do girls have wing women at the bar? What is their role?

Katrina - Yeah, of course girls have wing women! The role that they play is the part when your friend wants the cute guy and you try to distract the ugly one that’s been hitting on her. Even sometimes, as a bartender, I can be called on to be a wing woman for the moment.

Danielle - Yes! Girls travel in packs to protect themselves from aggressive, over-assertive men. Plus, most girls need their friend’s approval before leaving the bar with a guy.

3. What is the biggest mistake guys make at a bar? Is talking about sports okay?

Katrina - The biggest mistake that a guy can make while at a bar would have to be getting beer balls. Guys tend to have a few too many and then think their sh** don’t stink. Eeew, what a turn-off. On the other hand, I like a guy that can talk up a lil’ Red Sox action. As long as they keep it simple, it’s ok with me.

Danielle - Sports talk is definitely ok, as long as they have some other conversation to contribute. I think their biggest mistake is when they are not receptive enough to whether or not a girl is interested! Get lost buddy!

4. Have you ever hooked up with somebody you met while working and how did it turn out?

Katrina - Some of us have learned that you don’t sh** where you eat! Thanks to my friends, I’ve learned that it just doesn’t work. Poor boys!!!

Danielle - Yup! Been there, done that! It never turns out well. It’s never comfortable to have to see that person again…sober!!!

5. If you could drink with anybody at the Junction for one night who would it be and why?

Katrina - If I could drink with one person at The Junction it would have to be David Ortiz. He’s just so big and goofy looking, I bet his personality goes along with it. Besides, what girl from Boston isn’t a Red Sox fan? Who doesn’t have a soft side for him?

Danielle – If I could drink with one person at The J, it would have to be the brilliant man who founded Barstool Sports. I’m sure we’d have some great conversation. And he’s HOT!!! Vive el Presidente!
