The Dozen Trivia Match-Up Of The Century Delivers Fireworks
Personalized trivia is the future. Nothing takes me out of trivia more than getting a question where you have to listen to 5 seconds of Olivia Rodrigo's top song from 2019. When the questions involve great American cinema like Joe Dirt, and the greatest gaming experience to ever exist, Diablo II ... I'm all in on trivia.
This match-up features #6 Steven Cheah vs. #27 Me - and I promise fireworks. Here is a preview of the topics my questions will be pulled from ....
Topics 1 & 2: Peyton Manning Passing Options / Tom Brady Passing Options - Football's greatest modern rivalry, Manning vs Brady. Putting these topics together because you can't think of one without thinking about the other. No one followed the touchdown arms race closer than me. In 2004 Manning set the record at 49 touchdowns, then Brady broke the record during the almost perfect season with 50 touchdowns in 2007, only to have Manning destroy the record with 55 TD's in 2013. Since these two stopped going head to head, football hasn't been the same.
Topic 3: 2013 / 2014 Pacers - People forget the Pacers made it to the Eastern Conference Finals and gave the Heat's big 3 all they could handle. My Pacers knowledge is probably the worst of the Indiana sports, and I watched this entire playoff run drunk in Indiana's finest Broad Ripple bars, but there are like 10 guys on a roster, so this topic is easy points.
Topic 4: Diablo II - World of War Craft is nerd shit. Diablo II is pimp shit. When I was 12 the entire neighborhood played this game. During the summer we'd go to the pool during the day, and play Diablo at night until the early morning. Nothing like your parents waking up to go to work, disappointed to find you still online with your friends deep in the Durance of Hate on a Mephisto run. IYKYK.
Topics 5 & 6 (Double) John Mayer - If you watch The Dozen then you know John Mayer as a niche is to me what the sky hook was to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, it's unstoppable. There was a zero percent chance this topic wasn't making the question list.
Topics 7 & 8 (Double) U.S. Presidents Post WWII - As co-host of the best history podcast on the internet (RIP) I had to throw in something historic. Large and I will NEVER double history on The Dozen since it's such a broad topic, but narrowing it down to Presidents post WWII seems doable.
Topics 9 & 10 (Double) Joe Dirt - Joe Dirt is the perfect movie. Every emotion is experienced while watching, plus you get to look at Brandy's fine ass. The sound track is incredible even if you aren't a rocker through and through. During the summer of 2002 I think I watched this movie every night. I might know more about this movie than I do John Mayer. America loves an underdog, America loves Joe Dirt.
Topics 11 & 12 (Double) Indiana University Basketball - The only constant in my life is Indiana basketball. It's a horribly toxic relationship that lets me down over and over again, but I keep coming back. My favorite IU basketball player of all-time is DJ White. I had a dorm printed IU shirt my brother got me with "Go DJ Cuz Dats My DJ", and I think I might have worn it to school middle school/ Jr. High every day for 4 years DJ was at IU. Thinking about it now, that might mean I have a touch of the 'Tism, but so does Steven Cheah, making this an even match-up.
