Former UConn Basketball Player Christian Vital Explains What It Was Like To Be on Campus During the Women’s Team’s 111-Game Winning Streak

On today's episode of the Barstool Bench Mob, we welcomed on just our second in-person guest in the history of the program... former UConn guard Christian Vital! We drew up the pick and roll once again for this show, as Rico and I held it down while Marty was on the road in Omaha. We discussed plenty of topics during our chat, including a reflection of his time playing with the Huskies, the Supreme Court's decision on the NCAA, being an RA as a senior, and much more.

I also asked him about something historical that happened during his time on campus in Storrs: the 111-game winning streak by the University of Connecticut women's basketball team. You read that right... 111 GAMES IN A ROW! It is a streak that I can't see ever being broken, and it was very cool to hear Vital's thoughts on what the vibe was on campus during that time period.

Just take a look at this streak with your own eyes...

Yes, there are a handful of what people call "cupcake games" in the streak above. But you can't argue the fact that 111 wins in a row is 111 wins in a row. Another reason why this streak is so important when it comes to looking at things from a historical perspective is that it put a lot more eyeballs on women's basketball. When it comes to #GrowingTheGame, UConn basketball is must-see television. Head Coach Geno Auriemma is one of the best to ever do it, and he will forever be a legend in Storrs, Connecticut.

By the way, it took a LEGENDARY shot in the 2017 Final Four to kill that streak…
