JovoCop (Unreal Nickname) Started Playing Hockey At 11...And Was Drafted #1 Overall Seven Years Later

On this week's Spittin' Chiclets, we have Florida Panthers legend Ed Jovanovski and Toronto Maple Leaf Nazem Kadri. JovoCop, which is one of the best nicknames in NHL history, was taken #1 overall by the Panthers in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. But what's crazy about that is that the big, burly D-man didn't start playing hockey until he was 11. He tells us about his insane journey from late bloomer to hope of a fledgling franchise in addition to the incredible origin story about the season of the rat in Florida, one of the NHL's bizarrely hilarious historical tales. Jovo's big personality would've fit right into today's social media game as would his thumping, productive style of play.

Kadri chatted about his time under the microscope in Toronto, why he's fit in so well on the Avs, the Lebanese food in Denver, and a whole bunch more. And per usual Whit, Biz, and I break down the many goings-on in the NHL including Krueger's firing, Freddie Andersen, a chintzy call on a respected vet, and the Oscar noms. Today's ep is a fat one so enjoy it.
