I'm Still Angry About Pierre McGuire's Interview With Toews

I’ve been sitting here stewing over this for three days now. Fucking Pierre. Saying “they still love you, Jonathan” as if to imply it wasn’t a sure thing that we still loved him. We haven’t forgetten what Toews has meant to this organization and to this city. We haven’t ignored what he still is at age 30, which is a BONAFIDE #1 center.

Toews is completely “back”. He put the work in this summer. Changed his regiment. He looks lighter, stronger, quicker, and moves laterally like we haven’t seen from him. He adjusted his game to the new NHL mid-stream and the results this year have been there. 16 goals and on pace for 72 points this year. THAT is why we are so angry.

Toews and Kane are as good as they’ve ever been. They’re still the types of players which you can build a champion on their shoulders. With Toews and Kane in their late 20s, their prime, Stan Bowman and John McDonough will have exactly ZERO playoff series wins to show for it. When you have players worthy of statues you can’t waste their best years. You can’t waste to the point that you have people like Dan Rosen suggesting the Blackhawks should trade Jonathan Toews. Now, that is an IDIOTIC position for Rosen to take, but things have gotten so bad under Stan and John that people make leaps like that.

Toews isn’t the problem. He’s part of the solution. He’s part of the foundation; past, present, and future. It angers me that Pierre, Dan Rosen, and anyone else would suggest otherwise. That’s not the change we need. The change we need is leadership by suits, not sweaters. Fire Stan, Fire John. JoinOrDie
