The Trailer For 'Ocean's 8', An All-Female Reboot Of 'Ocean's Eleven', Is Out

Maybe it’s just because I’m a sucker for heist movies, but I think this looks pretty damn good! Sandra Bullock is playing Debbie Ocean, Danny Ocean’s long lost sister, and has the supporting cast of Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter behind her, which is a STRONG team. Oh, and Olivia Munn who paid to get a cameo in the movie.

There’s the quick eyeroll when you realize they’re numbering this one at ‘8’ so they could do a sequel, then reunite both ‘Ocean’s’ casts for the mega-assembled movie that will be ‘Ocean’s X’, but when you get past that I think this could be fun. The first all-female rebooted franchise obviously did horribly, mostly due to carelessness in dealing with one of the more beloved film series’ of all time, but the ‘Ocean’s’ name doesn’t have nearly the aura OR fanbase that Ghostbusters does, so the backlash from people who haven’t even seen the movie shouldn’t be as drastic. This trailer for me, over everything, did what all trailers are designed to do: made me want to see the flick. That’s all that matters this early in the game, I suppose.
